The Magmatic History of the Moon as Told by Chlorine Isotopes

The Moon is depleted in volatile elements compared to solar abundances. There are several stages in the Moon’s history where volatile loss could have occurred. Chlorine which is moderately volatile and has been detected in lunar samples displays some of the most 37-Cl rich isotope compositions in the solar system. This presentation will focus on our ongoing efforts to understand the history of chlorine loss and isotope fractionation through in-situ analysis of Apollo samples.
